"Well it's a most peculiar feeling, like sunburn in the evening
With dark clouds on their way
And you think it's most unlikely life could ever shine as brightly
Once the sun has gone and the pressure's on."

Today has, when all's said and done, not been such a bad day after all. I went out and had a bit of a spending splurge in Poole's charity emporiums. I returned armed with some old reggae vinyl which I've posted for your delight (track listing in comments). Plus a Ska album which I used to have in my collection years back and could never find. I'll post that at a later date along with the old rocksteady tape what I converted for you, how nice am I? Anyway I also got a couple of classic 'Man? Or Astroman' albums which will no doubt make their way on to this blog too. I also bought a new VW type two for the top of my monitor, pity I haven't got a real one yet but there you go. Maybe when (if) I get my bank charges refunded I'll use it to learn to drive? One step closer to my drive across the states dream? When I finally got home a bit warm because the typical British summer had me wearing my coat because it was raining in the morning and boiling hot when I came home. I then decided to pay off the Old Barclaycard, so now apart from a bit of rent arrears and an overdraft I'm virtually free. Woo hoo.

I like Poole apart from it's many aforementioned charity emporiums it has a very nice little record shop in the old town, of which yours truly is a regular and often discounted customer. I tend to get stuck in there for a few moments of vinyl sniffing glory. There's something very satisfying for an elderly 38 year old man like myself in thumbing through a collection of seven & twelve inch records. You can while away hours if you let yourself or (in everyone else's case except mine ... sadly) her indoors let's you. Engage misogyny mode, two hours to buy shoes that's ok but, 20 mins to look through records oh no matey.... misogyny mode disengaged now starting judgemental subroutine. I love to people watch, it really is an eye opener of how people think they look. Like the size 30 teenage girls who seem to think that it's okay to wear size 14 or the filthy homless drunken man who thinks he can chat up these young mums. It must have been giro day because they were all out today. There was another mum who despite the fact that she had a belly on her that many darts players would die for still seemed to think it ok to bare her midriff as she bent over to pick up her son and place him on the bus. I swear blind there was a slapping sound as it hit the floor. It's interesting to watch people from the window of the KFC I recommend it.

Anyway speaking of not being self aware, I've made startling discoveries about myself this week. I have been downloading the remastered versions of Star Trek which in itself is sad enough. But then I find myself trying to decide who was the nicest peice of inter galactic totty to wear the Star Fleet insignia. I mean let's face it you've got 7 of 9 for a start and then Ezri Dax, A Younger Lt. Uhuru lt.Saavik, B'Elanna Torres, Jadzia Dax... I'm going to stop now, sigh, it's no wonder I'm single. Why couldn't I like 'men' things like beer, porn, cars and fighting etc instead of Sci Fi, books and music? Maybe I should have a lobotomy or something to lower my IQ? Maybe I should go out and get totally bladdered and wake up the next day with someone whose name I can't remember with a mouth that's drier than a nun's crotch, like I used to? Nah been there done that wore the t shirt inside out.

Anyway here's the music and film for you I've uploaded the film with Joe Strummer directed by Alex Cox called 'Straight to Hell' unfortunately it's also got Courtney Love in it but hey every silver lining has a cloud. http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0094048/ Then I've upped the reggae what I bought today it's so fresh that it's still warm. Also some early Rik Mayall & Ade Edmonson stand up stuff.
